I spent two days at the NACHA Payments 2008 to satisfy all types of industry leaders in the payments space and do my fair share of learning. The conference, organized jointly by NACHA, a nonprofit organization that oversees the network offers a number of sessions, many of whom were very attractive. It is one of the largest conferences in the years in the area of payments, and was very pleased to be part, as a student and a representative of PaySimple.
I also had the pleasure to lead a session on the payment preferences of small businesses and trends. The basis of the presentation was the result of a recent investigation into the payment behavior of small businesses commissioned by PaySimple, and conducted by the market platform dynamics. My co-host, Karen Webster gave an excellent overview of the status of electronic payments for small businesses today. We were able to take a few nuggets of information study very interesting. Among them:
* Collecting is a strategic priority for many small businesses
* 52% of respondents would give the coffee during a week if they can receive payments from customers more quickly and cheaply!
* Intelligent High-tech Businesses are more likely to accept electronic payments
* 61% of respondents have a web presence, only 26% to accept payments on your website
* Indicates less than 13% electronic user to generate and sending bills Customers
* Small businesses that accept electronic payments want a better solution and are willing to switch suppliers to obtain
* About 70% of the sample in the survey believe that in two years 50% of payments will be through electronic means
